Aleatory

October 8, 2008

ALEATORY (AY-lee-uh-TOR-ee) – adj. 1 depending on the throw of a die or on chance. 2 relating to or denoting music or other forms of art involving elements of random choice during their composition or performance.

Also, check out this info on Aleatoric Music.

This is a video of Gustavo Corrales Romero playing Movil I by Harold Gramatges.  It is supposedly an aleatoric piece.  I’m not sure what I think of it.  It’s either an amazing art form or just a bunch of musical gibberish.  You decide.
